Saline County Land Use Study Group Saline County Extension office Steering Committee Members present: Mark Belwood, Vince Buck, Wayne McReynolds, Ruthie Cramer, Becky Plattner, Marc Harris, LeAnn Haling Steering Committee Members Absent: Kathy Borgman, Richard Clemens, Roy Hunter Saline County Commissioners Present: Mike Dillon Saline County Commissioners Absent: Richard Pemberton, John Stouffer University Partners Present: Anna Cox, Dr. Ron Powers County Extension Staff Present: Gerry Snapp, Darin Starr Media Present: Bob Stewart, Marshall Democrat News Chairman Mark Belwood called the meeting to order at 7:40 P.M. Discussion was held regarding our new committees. Marc Harris was added to the Public Issues Forum Committee. Jerry Organ has agreed to submit a written version of his oral report to our group regarding legal issues of land planning & zoning. Anna Cox explained the theory of AHP, and the structure of ranking priorities. She needs a subset from our group to work with her in planning the AHP presentation to the leadership fellowship forum. Members volunteering to help were Mike Dillon, LeAnn Haling, Mark Belwood, and Cynthia Crawford. Anna will also be directing questions to all members of the Forum Committee so that all members can respond. Jim Scott has sent a request that our group prepare a paper on our study group to present to the Public Administration Theory Network conference to be held in January. This paper may be used as a model for other counties. Members volunteering to help with this project were Mark Belwood and one commissioner. More information about this conference can be found at www.fau.edu/patheory2000. Gerry Snapp gave a report on the proposed Leadership Fellowship sessions to begin in February, 2000. Each group member is asked to participate in at least one session. Volunteering were: February – Vince, Ruthie; March – Becky, Kathy; April – LeAnn Members are asked to begin recruiting interested Saline County residents. Enrollment brochures were distributed. Gerry Snapp reported that Chris Fulcher and Tom Tate have volunteered to work with Saline County students enrolled at M.U. to teach them about our web site. On November 18, John Saunders, Director of Agriculture will be the speaker at a noon luncheon hosted by Marshall Chamber of Commerce at Seasons restaurant. The next meeting was scheduled for 7:00 P.M., December 13, at the Extension Office. LeAnn Haling, Acting Secretary |
