Minutes Cynthia Crawford called the first meeting of the Saline County Fellowship Planning Committee to order on October 21, 1999 in the Saline County Extension Center.
By consensus the group was enthusiastic about proceeding with a Saline County Fellowship. Jim Seigfreid suggested calling it Saline County L.I.F.E. - Leadership Initiative through Fellowship and Education. The SOS conference will be contributing funds remaining from past conferences. The amount is $1,000+. The Excel Alumni will consider donating funding, as well. The County Commission has allocated funds via the Saline County Study. There will be 5 classes, on a month February through June. Maximum of 20 per month. Mentors are needed for each class from the Saline County Study steering committee and the Fellowship planning group. Classes will meet three full days - one day in Arrow Rock, the second in Sweet Springs and the final day in Marshall at the Extension Center. Objectives were established for the fellowship:
Registration will be $100, with $50 scholarships available on the basis of need. It is a goal of the planning committee that no Saline County citizen be unable to participate because of the cost. There will be limited full scholarships available. Mary Ann Gilpin will check on embroidered denim shirts for fellows. The outline of the county was suggested as the logo. She will check on a local vendor. Minimum of 10 fellows per class, maximum of 20. Cynthia was asked to develop a marketing brochure. Jim Siegfried was asked to announce the fellowship at the Newcomer's Dinner November 4. Next meeting of the planning group November 17 at 10 a.m. in the Saline County Extension Center.
