Gray-headed Coneflower

This common native plant is at home in sunny, open locations in the county.  Gray-headed coneflower, with its distinctive drooping yellow 'petals' (which are actually the corollas of ray flowers) begins blooming in June shortly after Black-eyed Susans have started to bloom.
