Rose Valley Cemetery in the southern part of Saline
County contains prairie grasses that have persisted since presettlement times. Historical
records suggest that Saline County was about 80% prairie in the early 1800's and that
mature woodlands dominated the lands directly adjacent to streams and rivers. The cemetery
is the last known patch of remnant prairie in Saline County.
